Fascinated by the diversity of aromatic expression of the Pinot noir grape variety in Champagne, Louis Roederer decided to develop his Vintage Brut on the structure and power of the Pinots noirs from the Montagne de Reims, where the vines, exposed to the North North-East , are slower to ripen and give wines that are sometimes rough and closed at the start of aging but whose personality is refined and intensifies remarkably with aging in wood and time. In 1850, he decided to buy more than 15 hectares in the grand cru of Verzenay in order to better control the development of the grapes for this cuvée.
Extraordinary harvest which is also the year of recognition of Champagne as a UNESCO World Heritage Site! 2015 is perfectly in line with the continental trend of the decade: mild and humid winter and hot and dry summer! The summer, hot and sunny, will remain marked by records of heat and drought… And by this happy summer finale when the vine was “relieved” by the saving rain of the second part of August. Maturation, thanks to this finish under the sign of freshness, will give rise to juicy, ripe and concentrated grapes! The ambition of the vintage?… To capture the concentrated signature of a spectacular vintage!
