Ideally located on the Bages plateau, this 5th Classified Growth is today considered to be worth many 2nds, thanks to the deserving and passionate work of the Cazes family for nearly 70 years. From now on, it is Jean-Charles who is in charge of the 90 hectares of vines of Lynch Bages, on a magnificent terroir of gravel Garonne.
Boasting incredible quality consistency, Lynch Bages is highly sought after by hedonistic connoisseurs for its dazzling and sensual style: volume, softness and opulence of the fruit are obtained by harvesting at ultimate maturity – the cru is often the last Pauillac to be harvested. ! But it also presents qualities of structure, precision, freshness and aging due to its high proportion of Cabernet-Sauvignon.
Richer in Merlot and Cabernet-Franc, its Second Wine Echo de Lynch Bages fully relies on suppleness for a more immediate tasting. There has also been Blanc de Lynch Bages since 1990, produced in the Bordeaux appellation on barely four hectares. A blend of Sauvignon (40% of the grape varieties), Sémillon (40%) and Muscadelle, this great Médoc white wine offers a splendid aromatic palette: grapefruit and exotic fruits, dried apricot and hazelnut, white flowers and fine vanilla notes of aging with 50% new oak.
Echo de Lynch-Bages 2017 presents a brilliant color, with pretty purplish garnet reflections. On the nose, the fruit is greedy and expressive. At the tasting, notes of fresh red fruits (currant and raspberry) are present. The wine is round, elegant, with a hint of acidity on the finish.
