Heavy rainfall from November to February replenished the water tables, which had already been well filled by the years 2012 and 2013, above or equivalent to annual averages.

Temperatures remained above normal, and vineyards, like people, missed out on a good winter’s frost as we like it: beautiful sunshine, dry cold, no wind for around 15 days! We can’t control nature! Bud-break was early, followed by uniform flowering in the first week of June, helped by higher temperatures.

As always, climatic conditions were at the heart of our concerns as winegrowers, and our teams worked hard throughout the year to bring grapes to maturity in perfect health. Veraison took place in two periods, at the end of July and then after August 15, resulting in differences in ripeness between bunches on the same vine.

We therefore had to “juggle” at harvest time to make the most judicious choices, and insist that the pickers and sorters keep only the “nec plus ultra” of red grapes, suitable for producing our great Pauillac wines.

Château Lafite Rothschild, one of the undeniable jewels in the crown of the Bordeaux region, boasts an exceptional terroir of fine, deep gravel on a limestone bedrock in the north of the appellation. The 112 hectares of vines are largely dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), with Merlot (25%), Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The estate applies a very strict selection process, with over 50% of the harvest often excluded from the grand vin.

The 1er Cru Classé’s vintages are marked by a tight but magnificently velvety tannic structure, and a subtle expression of cedar and graphite. As for its future potential in the cellar, it’s breathtaking!

The château has belonged to Domaines Barons de Rothschild since 1868. In early 2018, Eric de Rothschild passed the baton to his daughter, Saskia de Rothschild, and entrusted the management of the estate to Jean-Guillaume Prats.

[1822,3806,7546,7588,3761

0":"post-20905","1":"product","2":"type-product","3":"status-publish","4":"has-post-thumbnail","6":"product_cat-vins-rares-2","7":"product_cat-bordeaux-en","8":"product_cat-medoc-en-2","9":"product_cat-private-sales","10":"product_cat-red-wine","11":"pa_amap-bordeaux-prestige-en","12":"pa_amap-bordeaux-rouge-en","13":"pa_amap-bordeaux-rouge-grands-crus-en-2","14":"pa_amap-bordeaux-rouge-grands-crus-classes-en","15":"pa_amap-france-en-2","16":"pa_amap-medoc-en","17":"pa_amap-pauillac-en","18":"pa_amap-vins-rouges-en","19":"pa_amap-vins-rouges-grand-crus-en","20":"pa_appellation-pauillac-3","21":"pa_couleur-rouge-3","22":"pa_format-bouteille-75cl-en","23":"pa_millesime-2014-en-2","24":"pa_pays-bordeaux-en","25":"pa_pays-france-2-en","26":"pa_specificite-grands-crus-en","27":"pa_specificite-grands-crus-classes-en","28":"pa_specificite-vins-rares-en","29":"pa_type-rouge-6","31":"first","32":"instock","33":"taxable","34":"shipping-taxable","35":"purchasable","36":"product-type-simple
["GET
