Presentation
The Comte de Malartic Blanc 2020 is the second wine from the prestigious Château Malartic-Lagravière, a Grand Cru Classé of Graves. Made from a blend dominated by Sauvignon Blanc (around 71%) and complemented by Sémillon (around 29%), this wine reflects the estate’s expertise while offering a more accessible approach. Grown on the characteristic gravelly soils of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, it benefits from careful vinification and barrel aging, including a significant proportion of new oak, to refine its structure and complexity.
Tasting
The 2020 Comte de Malartic Blanc has a bright pale yellow color. The nose is expressive, revealing aromas of fresh fruit such as lime, grapefruit, and green mango, combined with floral notes of white flowers and linden. On the palate, the wine is lively and fresh, with well-integrated acidity supporting a slightly rich texture. Flavors of exotic fruits and citrus blend harmoniously with mineral nuances, offering a long and elegant finish.
Château Malartic-Lagravière is a Graves Cru Classé located in Léognan (Pessac-Léognan), owned by the Bonnie family since 1997.
The estate covers approximately 73 hectares: 66 hectares for red wines, 7 hectares for white wines.
The vineyard is planted with classic Bordeaux grape varieties: for the red, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot; for the white, Sauvignon Blanc is predominantly accompanied by Sémillon.
The soils are typical of the Graves de Léognan region: dry, clayey gravel, with a shell-like limestone subsoil and clay veins, which ensures excellent drainage and a remarkable underlying minerality.
The estate practices sustainable viticulture, with manual harvesting, plot sorting, and environmental certifications (HVE, ISO 14001) to preserve the freshness and character of the terroir, and guarantee consistent quality.
