The Disznókő vineyard was first mentioned in a land register in 1413. It is therefore a fitting name for this modern version of Édes Szamorodni, a traditional Tokaj wine.
Szamorodni is a traditional wine that has been produced in the Tokaj region for centuries. Its name comes from the Polish word for “as is”, meaning that the grapes arrive at the winery as they are from the vineyard. In fact, the grapes are not selected grape by grape (the harvesting method used to produce aszú wines), but are picked as whole bunches, dried and bottled. After fermentation, the wine is aged in barrels.
Its colour ranges from pale yellow to rich gold. When young, there is an abundance of wild flowers, fresh fruit and candied fruit (apricots, citrus, tropical notes) with hints of almonds and woody spices. With bottle age, Disznókő 1413 Tokaji develops notes of honey and dried fruit and its fresh acidity softens. This is a wine of great finesse and balance.
Excellent as an aperitif. A perfect accompaniment to foie gras. It also goes well with creamy, lemony fish, peking duck with fruit, moderately sweet desserts, fruit and cheeses. The wine can be drunk straight from the bottle, but barrel ageing will make it more complex and richer over the next 10 to 15 years.
