The 1996 Riesling Patience half-bottle (0.375 L) from Famille Hugel is an exceptional cuvée produced only in the best vintages and limited to only 150 bottles worldwide. This rare wine is made from overripe grapes often affected by noble rot botrytis cinerea, which gives it a unique aromatic richness and exceptional aging potential. Its golden color with green highlights announces a wine of great finesse. On the nose, it reveals a complex bouquet of ripe fruit, apricot, peach, honey, candied citrus, enriched with delicate mineral notes. On the palate, the texture is creamy, supported by a perfectly integrated acidity that balances the generosity for a long, elegant finish of rare persistence. This Riesling Patience embodies the philosophy of time and patience dear to the Hugel house and is ideally enjoyed as an aperitif or accompanied by refined dishes such as foie gras, mature cheeses, or fruity desserts. A work of art for collectors and discerning enthusiasts, a symbol of excellence and ancestral know-how.
Domaine Hugel is a legendary Alsace vineyard, synonymous with excellence and tradition. For nearly 400 years, this family estate has produced wines that embody the soul and richness of the Alsatian terroir. Passed down from father to son for twelve generations, the Hugel family passionately cultivates noble grape varieties such as Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Gris.
The estate covers 30 hectares of vines located on the best slopes of Riquewihr, most of which are classified as Grand Cru, complemented by 110 hectares of vineyard partners. Each bottle reflects ancestral know-how and a modern approach to winemaking, combining precision, elegance, and purity.
Hugel white wines are true works of art: mineral Rieslings, expressive Gewurztraminers, and harmonious Pinot Gris. Their dry, unpretentious style highlights the grape variety’s distinctive character and the finesse of the Alsatian climate. Their vintages are equally suited to aperitifs, fine dining, or cellaring.
A pioneer of Late Harvests and Selections of Noble Grains, Hugel helped establish the strictest French AOC regulations for these exceptional wines. The estate’s historic cellars house century-old tuns, including the famous “Sainte Catherine” barrel dating from 1715, still in use today.
Hugel wines are perfect for lovers of fine wines and those wishing to discover the best of Alsace in a bottle. An iconic house that combines tradition, innovation, and impeccable quality, recognized in more than 100 countries around the world.
