Named in homage to the ancient Roman road that ran alongside the vineyard, this luminous white is made primarily from Malvasia del Lazio, the region’s iconic native grape variety.
The nose reveals a frank and floral expression, marked by notes of white flowers, peach, citrus zest, and a hint of wild fennel. On the palate, the texture is supple and fresh, with a mineral and saline tension reminiscent of the volcanic origins of the soil. A vibrant, delicately perfumed wine, perfect with seafood, appetizers, grilled vegetables, or a simple herb burrata.
A noble heritage, between unspoiled nature and a wine renaissance
A few kilometers south of Rome, on the ancient lands of the Via Appia Antica, the estate of Prince Alberico Boncompagni Ludovisi embodies a unique history, at the crossroads of aristocratic tradition and a pioneering vision of sustainable viticulture. Since the 1940s, the prince has been a pioneer, choosing natural, chemical-free agriculture, long before the term organic or biodynamic viticulture was coined.
After a long period of silence, the estate was reborn under the leadership of Alberico Boncompagni Antinori, the prince’s grandson, who perpetuated his ancestor’s spirit: respect for the land, historic grape varieties, and minimalist winemaking. On this volcanic, hilly terroir, between Mediterranean warmth and marine influences, the wines express a radical purity, a unique identity, deeply rooted in the soil of Lazio.
