Intense and complex, with aromas of ripe, even jammy black fruits (black cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry, prune). On the palate we find a lovely blend of cocoa, spices and black fruits. A typical blend of the Syrah Grenache region. Hand-harvested with two sorting tables, crushed and fermented in vats at 30 degrees. Aged in 50% new barrels for 12 months.
La Coume Del Mas is located in the hamlet of Cosprons between Port Vendres and Banyuls. It is run by Philippe Gard, an agricultural engineer who first worked at the Auxerre Chamber of Agriculture, then at the Bordeaux Chamber of Agriculture. The estate now covers 14 hectares spread over 32 plots scattered across the communes of Banyuls and Collioure. This vineyard, due to its terrain, subsoil, and geographical location, is one of the last remaining original examples of this heroic mountain viticulture. While some of the plots reach an altitude of nearly 380 meters, others plunge into the Mediterranean. But all, without exception, exhibit sometimes dizzying drops, making mechanization impossible and human intervention crucial.
