Les Forts de Latour 2016
Originating from the prestigious vineyards of Château Latour, Les Forts de Latour 2016 is the second wine of one of Bordeaux’s greatest estates. Crafted with the same exacting standards as the Grand Vin, it benefits from a rigorous parcel selection and faithfully reflects the deep, structured style of Pauillac.
The 2016 vintage, considered one of the finest in Bordeaux, delivers remarkable concentration and exceptional precision. The nose reveals aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and black cherry, complemented by notes of cedar, graphite, blond tobacco, and fine spices. Oak ageing adds subtle hints of cocoa and roasted nuances.
On the palate, the wine impresses with its density and perfect balance. The tannins are powerful, fully ripe, and remarkably refined, supported by a freshness that brings tension and length. The finish is long and persistent, marked by black fruit, liquorice, and a delicate mineral touch.
A great Pauillac, already highly expressive in its youth, yet with outstanding ageing potential that will allow it to develop further complexity over several decades.
Château Latour
Located at the southern edge of the Pauillac appellation, Château Latour is one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious estates. Classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification, it is renowned worldwide for the longevity, precision, and depth of its wines.
The vineyard is dominated by the famous Enclos, a historic terroir of deep gravel soils over a clay subsoil, particularly well-suited to Cabernet Sauvignon. This mosaic of parcels is subject to extremely strict selection, allowing the production of the Grand Vin, Les Forts de Latour, and the estate’s third wine.
Since 1993, the estate has belonged to François Pinault through the Artémis Group. Château Latour practices highly demanding viticulture, certified organic, with precise parcel-by-parcel management and winemaking carried out in full respect of each terroir.
The wines of Château Latour are renowned for their controlled power, balance, and exceptional ageing potential, making the estate a benchmark among Bordeaux’s First Growths (Premiers Grands Crus Classés).
