Produced by one of Pauillac’s most prestigious estates, Pichon Comtesse 2022 showcases the finesse and elegance that define this renowned Second Growth (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé). Benefiting from exceptionally favourable weather conditions, this vintage offers remarkable precision, balance and depth.
The blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and smaller proportions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The nose reveals aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, violet and cedar, enhanced by delicate notes of spice and graphite. On the palate, the wine is rich and silky, supported by refined tannins, vibrant freshness and a long, elegant finish.
Already impressive in its youth, Pichon Comtesse 2022 also offers outstanding ageing potential. A distinguished Pauillac combining power, elegance and complexity, it pairs beautifully with red meats, game and refined cuisine.
Located in the southern part of the Pauillac appellation, close to the Gironde estuary, Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is one of the Médoc’s most renowned wine estates. Classified as a Second Growth (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé) in the historic 1855 Classification, it is celebrated for producing wines that combine finesse, depth and exceptional ageing potential.
The estate dates back to the late 17th century. Following a family inheritance in the 19th century, the original property was divided into two separate estates: Château Pichon Longueville Baron and Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. The latter takes its name from Virginie de Pichon Longueville, Countess of Lalande, who inherited the estate in 1850.
The vineyard covers nearly 90 hectares, planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The vines thrive on Pauillac’s famous deep gravel ridges, a terroir ideally suited to the production of some of Bordeaux’s finest wines.
Since its acquisition by the Rouzaud family, owners of Maison Louis Roederer, the estate has continued to refine its work both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Vineyard practices focus on respecting the terroir and the environment, while winemaking is designed to express the character of each individual plot with precision.
The wines of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande are renowned for their balance of power and elegance, their silky texture, remarkable freshness and their ability to develop beautifully over several decades.
