Overview
The Château Tournefeuille 2023 embodies the elegance and finesse characteristic of the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation. This wine is made from a blend dominated by Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a touch of Malbec. Grown on a clay-gravel terroir, the vines benefit from optimal exposure, allowing the grapes to ripen perfectly. The viticulture is environmentally friendly, with a partial conversion to biodynamics and meticulous cultivation practices.
Tasting
The Château Tournefeuille 2023 presents a deep ruby red color. The nose is expressive, revealing aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackcurrant and blackberry, accompanied by floral notes of violet and spicy touches of cuben pepper and toasted vanilla. On the palate, the wine is fleshy and juicy, with a precise tannic structure and beautiful freshness. The black fruit flavors blend harmoniously with nuances of coffee, cardamom, and toasted hazelnut. The finish is long and persistent, offering beautiful complexity and definite aging potential.
Château Tournefeuille is a prestigious wine estate located in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation, in Néac, on a unique clay-gravel spur offering breathtaking views of the famous Pomerol terroirs, including the Pétrus plateau. The vineyard covers 18 hectares, spread across four distinct terroirs, allowing for optimal expression of the grape varieties.
The estate’s grape varieties consist primarily of Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec. The vines, aged between 10 and 60 years old, benefit from environmentally friendly viticulture, with a partial conversion to biodynamics and no chemical weed control.
Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled concrete vats, with a vatting period of 2 to 4 weeks depending on the terroir. Aging lasts 18 months, with 20% in vats and 80% in French oak barrels, a third of which are new. This method gives the château’s wines great finesse, beautiful structure, and remarkable aging potential.
