Château Lascombes 2019 is a red wine from the Margaux appellation, classified as a Second Grand Cru in the famous 1855 Classification.
The 2019 vintage offers beautiful fruit ripeness, with pronounced aromas of dark fruit, complemented by subtle spicy and oaky notes. The structure is generous, with rich body and silky tannins that bring balance to the wine. The finish is long, with a persistent aromatic presence.
A wine with character, enjoyable today after aeration, but also capable of evolving favorably in the cellar for several years.
Best served with red meats, game, or dishes with rich sauces.
Château Lascombes is one of the historic great estates of the Margaux appellation, with origins dating back to the 17th century, when the first vineyards were planted around 1681 by Chevalier Antoine de Lascombes.
Owned by the Lascombes family for several generations, the estate quickly established itself as a benchmark in the Médoc. It was officially recognized in the 1855 Classification, earning the rank of Second Grand Cru Classé.
Over time, the estate changed hands several times, with notable figures such as Alexis Lichine, who revitalized the property in the 1950s by modernizing both the vineyard and the facilities.
Today, Château Lascombes spans approximately 120 to 130 hectares, making it one of the largest classified estates in the appellation.
Its terroir is particularly diverse, combining gravel, clay, sand, and limestone, providing a great richness of expression in the wines.
Recently, there has been a renewed focus on Cabernet Sauvignon at the heart of the blend, in a more classic Margaux style.
Since 2022, the estate has been owned by the Lawrence family, also proprietors of Heitz Cellar, with a clear goal of returning to the historic identity of the cru and achieving a more precise and balanced style.
Today, vinification is carried out with great care, using a parcel-by-parcel approach, gentler extractions, and adapted aging (barrels, foudres, amphorae) to preserve the wine’s finesse.
The estate produces:
The wines are distinguished by their fine structure, generous body, and excellent aging potential, while maintaining the typical elegance of Margaux.
