The 2019 Château Enclos Haut-Mazeyres presents itself as a refined expression of Pomerol, rich yet balanced.
This vintage delivers beautiful aromatic concentration, with intense fruit that isn’t overripe.
The tannic structure is firm but already well-rounded, and the aging (light oak) brings finesse and depth without masking the character of the terroir.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Wild black fruits (blackberry, blueberry), hints of undergrowth, damp earth, a light hint of truffle and sweet spices, and a subtle vanilla from barrel aging.
Palate: Velvety attack, generous flesh, ripe yet fresh fruit. The tannins are fine and well-integrated, with a silky texture. A subtle underlying acidity provides balance and a beautiful tension.
This discreet Pomerol wine expresses all the finesse and indulgence of Merlot, in a refined, harmonious, and seductive style. It’s therefore perfect for wine lovers seeking sophistication and aging potential, while remaining accessible immediately after decanting.
Château Enclos Haut Mazeyres is a wine estate passed down from woman to woman since 1830.
It thus remains one of the rare family wine estates, the Souille de Pedro family under the leadership of their daughter Marianne and son-in-law Yoann.
The estate emphasizes tradition and respect for the terroir, with vines aged 40 to 60 years old, soils combining gravel, clay, and ironstone, and environmentally friendly cultivation.
The vineyard is managed organically and biodynamically.
Traditional vinification, aging in French barrels (and, depending on the plot, careful plot-by-plot work) enhance the fruit, purity, and elegance.
