A great, authentic and delicate Pomerol!
The 2021 Château La Conseillante offers a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc.
The color is deep, ruby-purple, almost dark, heralding great elegance.
On the nose: fresh red and black fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant, wild berries), floral notes (rose, violet), occasional touches of lavender or fine spices, and well-integrated noble oak.
On the palate, the wine seduces with its tannic finesse, its velvety texture, and the balance between a beautiful acidity that adds tension and a generous but controlled body.
The finish is long and expressive, with persistent aromas of fruit and spices and a subtle freshness.
2021 here is less about raw power than about tension, delicacy, and harmony.
Château La Conseillante has belonged to the Nicolas family since 1871, but its roots date back to the 18th century, when Catherine Conseillan gave her name to this estate, which has become one of the finest in Pomerol.
The vineyard covers approximately 12 hectares, divided into a mosaic of 16 plots, the oldest of which dates back to 1958.
The terroir combines clayey soils dominated by gray clay, sandy gravel, and a subsoil rich in iron oxides (iron dross): a terrain that favors the gentle power, aromatic finesse, and beautiful expression of Merlot, while complementing Cabernet Franc perfectly on lighter soils.
The team led by Marielle Cazaux, supported by experienced consultants, and the Nicolas heirs, maintain precision viticulture, plot-by-plot vinification, late harvests according to maturity, and careful aging, with a high proportion of new barrels.
