The 2021 Château Lécuyer displays a dark and brilliant, almost purple color, which heralds a beautiful body.
The nose displays a good balance between ripe red fruits, a hint of plum, floral nuances, and a light, well-integrated oak.
On the palate, it expresses itself elegantly: silky tannins, a soft yet firm structure, juicy fruit supported by a mouth-watering freshness, and beautiful depth and length.
A Pomerol that is both charming now and also offers excellent aging potential.
Château Lécuyer is a 3.40-hectare small growth in the Pomerol appellation, acquired and developed since 2004 by Émeric Petit. It is now owned by Ronan Laborde (Château Clinet), who strives to preserve its identity while contributing his expertise.
The vineyard, planted mainly with Merlot with a little Cabernet Franc, includes older vines: approximately 34% are over 60 years old, 29% over 50 years old, producing grapes that offer great finesse and ripeness.
The terroir is typical of the Pomerol plateau: two types of soil dominate—a parcel of clay-gravel enriched with iron (on the plateau), and lower parts of sand on clay subsoil. These contrasting soils combine power and elegance, structure and lightness.
