The Prunotto Barolo Mosconi 2020 is a prestigious red wine from the Barolo DOCG in the Piedmont region of Italy. Made from the Nebbiolo grape, it comes specifically from the Mosconi vineyard, located in the commune of Monforte d’Alba, renowned for producing powerful and structured wines.
The 2020 vintage is distinguished by an intense garnet-red color with slight orange reflections. On the nose, it offers a complex bouquet of ripe red fruits (cherry, raspberry), violet, along with spicy, balsamic, and lightly oaky notes from barrel aging.
On the palate, the wine is full and elegant, with well-structured but silky tannins. It shows excellent structure, balanced acidity, and a long aromatic persistence marked by hints of licorice, tobacco, and undergrowth. This is a wine for aging, capable of developing favorably over 10 to 20 years.
The Prunotto Barolo Mosconi 2020 pairs perfectly with rich and flavorful dishes such as grilled red meats, game, stews, and aged cheeses.
It is a wine that finely illustrates the typicity of the Barolo terroir, combining power, complexity, and elegance.
The Prunotto is a historic winery located in the Langhe region of Piedmont (northwest Italy), one of the most prestigious areas for fine Italian wines.
Founded in 1904 as a cooperative (“Ai Vini delle Langhe”), it was later taken over by Alfredo Prunotto, who gave it his name. Today, it is owned by the Antinori family, a major reference in Italian winemaking, and covers approximately 50 to 65 hectares of vineyards spread across Langhe and Monferrato.
The estate cultivates several renowned crus of Barolo DOCG and Barbaresco, including Bussia, Cerretta, and Mosconi. The vineyards are situated on UNESCO World Heritage-listed hills, particularly well-suited to Nebbiolo.
Prunotto is known for its classic and elegant style, strong expression of the terroir (crus), and a balance between tradition and modernity.
In summary: the Prunotto Barolo Mosconi 2020 comes from a historic and respected Piedmontese estate, now supported by Antinori, producing wines that are faithful to their terroir and accessible within the world of great Barolo.
