Paul Jaboulet Aîné’s Saint-Joseph “Le Grand Pompée” red is an iconic cuvée from the northern Rhône Valley, produced from light schist and gneiss soils resting on a granite base, typical of the appellation. Made from 100% Syrah, this wine pays homage to a character in Victor Hugo’s La Légende des siècles, anchoring its identity in the region’s history and culture. It reveals an expressive bouquet of ripe red fruits, violet, black pepper, and sweet spices, in a style that is both refined and accessible. The palate is supple, elegant, and well-balanced, supported by melted tannins and a beautiful freshness that extends the finish. A beautiful expression of the Saint-Joseph terroir, this characterful wine seduces with its aromatic complexity and its aging potential, ideal to accompany grilled meats, roast poultry or dishes with Mediterranean accents.
