From the Tuscan coast of Bolgheri, Sassicaia 2016 by Tenuta San Guido is one of the most iconic expressions of the “Super Tuscan” style. This vintage is widely regarded as one of the most accomplished of the decade, combining power, precision, and remarkable elegance.

The 2016 vintage benefited from ideal climatic conditions, producing perfectly ripe and balanced grapes. The nose opens with intense aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry, and plum, complemented by notes of violet, cedar, blond tobacco, graphite, and fine spices. Barrel ageing adds noble complexity, with nuances of cocoa, coffee, and refined oak seamlessly integrated.

On the palate, the structure is deep and harmonious. The tannins are powerful yet highly refined, supporting a dense and perfectly balanced wine. The finish is long, vibrant, and persistent, marked by black fruits, spices, and an elegant mineral signature.

Tenuta San Guido is the estate behind Sassicaia, one of Italy’s most famous wines and a pioneer of the great wines of Bolgheri. Located on the Tuscan coast, the estate benefits from a unique terroir composed of limestone soils, pebbles, and clay, ideally suited to Bordeaux grape varieties.
