Sassicaia 2016 from Tenuta San Guido is one of Italy’s greatest wines and an absolute benchmark among “Super Tuscans.” Considered one of the finest vintages in the estate’s history, 2016 combines power, precision and elegance in an exceptional balance. Sourced from the hills of Bolgheri, this wine offers a remarkable expression of its terroir and extraordinary ageing potential.

The nose reveals great complexity with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry and plum, complemented by notes of cedar, graphite, blond tobacco, liquorice, fine spices and a subtle balsamic touch. On the palate, the attack is ample and silky, supported by remarkably fine tannins. The structure is deep, perfectly balanced and beautifully fresh. The finish is exceptionally long, elegant and marked by outstanding precision.

The Estate

Founded in the 1940s by Marquis Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, Tenuta San Guido is the estate that revolutionised Italian wine with the creation of Sassicaia. Located in Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast, the estate benefits from gravelly soils and a sea-influenced temperate climate, particularly well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Today, Sassicaia remains one of the world’s greatest benchmarks and the only Italian wine with its own appellation: Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC.
