An exceptional expression of old Cinsault vines from the Itata Valley in Chile. It features a beautiful presence of red fruits such as raspberry and cherry. This elegant wine has a beautiful freshness and minerality, giving it a stunning length. The finish is very surprising and pleasant on the palate for this excellent Chilean wine. Our tasting advice is to aerate the wine to extract its full potential.
Masintín is the story of four Belgian friends who had the idea of reviving Chile’s forgotten vineyards and demonstrating that it is precisely here that the best Chilean wines can be produced.
The Itata and Maule valleys are among the oldest wine-growing regions in Chile. The valleys enjoy a perfect climate and benefit from the moderating influence of the Pacific Ocean. Small vineyards are scattered across the hilly landscape, interspersed with pine forests and eucalyptus plantations. The vines, often very old, are not irrigated and are deeply rooted in the quartz-rich soil. They are pruned in a “goblet” shape, with the branches protecting the grape clusters from heat and drought like an umbrella.
Masintín wanted to represent the true grape in every drop. They are committed to producing small-scale, honest, and elegant wines from Chile’s iconic yet often overlooked sites.
The Cinsault and Carignan grapes are hand-picked and fermented with natural wild yeasts, after which the wines are aged in concrete vats, old French oak barrels, and cocciopesto amphorae. The result is spectacular. Masintín produces powerful yet elegant wines with abundant red fruit. Wines never to be forgotten!
