Le Duo 2010 is an exceptional cuvée born from the union of two great terroirs: Château La Lagune, located in the Haut-Médoc, and Domaine de la Chapelle, producer of the iconic Hermitage La Chapelle. This rare wine is produced in small quantities, exclusively in large formats (magnums and jeroboams), and sold primarily at auction. It is classified as a Vin de France, which circumvents appellation restrictions for this type of trans-regional blend.
The color is a deep red. The nose reveals an aromatic complexity combining ripe black fruits, spicy notes, and hints of leather and tobacco. On the palate, the attack is ample, with powerful yet well-integrated tannins, providing a solid structure. The finish is long, marked by woody nuances and a beautiful fruity persistence. This wine combines the richness of Bordeaux Merlot with the power of Rhône Syrah, creating a unique harmony.
The Duo is an exceptional cuvée born from the collaboration between two great names in French wine: Château La Lagune, 3rd Grand Cru Classé in Haut-Médoc, and Domaine de La Chapelle, owned by Paul Jaboulet Aîné in Hermitage. This union combines the Bordeaux elegance of Cabernet Sauvignon with the aromatic power of Syrah from the Rhône.
Created in 2006 by Caroline Frey, the winemaker at the helm of both estates, the Duo cuvée blends 50% grapes from La Lagune and 50% grapes from La Chapelle. This rare blend recalls the historic blends of the 17th century, when Bordeaux merchants added Syrah to Bordeaux wines to enrich their aromatic palette.
The result is a wine of great complexity, combining the tannic structure and freshness of Cabernet Sauvignon with the depth and spice of Syrah. Each vintage is a work of art, produced in limited quantities and only in exceptional years.
Le Duo is a rare wine, reserved for discerning connoisseurs, which reflects the expertise and boldness of Caroline Frey. It embodies the perfect alliance between two exceptional terroirs, offering a unique tasting experience.
