This single-plot Vintage Port celebrates the unique personality of the Bom Retiro estate. The nose opens with deep aromas of wild blackberry, blackcurrant, and blue flowers. On the palate, density and freshness are balanced in a remarkably precise structure. The firm yet silky tannins elegantly carry the wine. Every detail testifies to the rigorous work in the vineyard and cellar. The richness of the fruit is enveloped in mineral and balsamic touches. The balance between intensity and purity gives the wine a rare harmony. Its length is impressive, and its youth promises many decades of evolution. Served after decanting, it displays vibrant energy and a fascinating aromatic nobility. Vintage Bom Retiro 2018 is a monumental, concentrated wine of serene beauty.
Founded in 1880 by Adriano Ramos Pinto, the eponymous winery has been a pillar of Port excellence for over a century. Located in the historic heart of Vila Nova de Gaia, it combines Douro tradition with an artistic and avant-garde vision. Its iconic vineyards—Quinta da Ervamoira and Quinta do Bom Retiro—spread across sun-drenched schist slopes, producing grapes of exceptional concentration and purity.
The winery’s philosophy is based on a balance between innovation and respect for the terroir: manual harvesting, varietal vinification, and meticulous aging in Gaia’s century-old cellars. Each Ramos Pinto Port expresses a unique, precise, and harmonious style, where natural sweetness combines with a rare structural elegance. From luminous whites to time-honored tawnys, from fiery rubies to majestic vintages, the wines all bear the Ramos Pinto signature: finesse, aromatic complexity, and crystalline length. The winery was also a pioneer in developing the Ervamoira terroir, the first quinta in the Douro to practice sustainable and integrated viticulture.
Today, Ramos Pinto embodies the soul of modern Port—a subtle blend of power, refinement, and authenticity—and remains one of the undisputed benchmarks in Portuguese winemaking.
