La Gaffelière has belonged to the Malet-Roquefort family for four centuries, the oldest owner family in Saint-Emilion. It is Alexandre de Malet who manages it, assisted by Damien Bielle. The 33-hectare vineyard in one piece, 80% planted with Merlot and the rest with Cabernet Franc, is located on a magnificent clay-limestone hillside, more siliceous at the foot of the hill. Its southern exposure favors the sunshine of the grapes for an ideal maturity. The Château has been followed by the team of Stéphane Derenoncourt for the vinification for a few years.
