Alvaro Palacios – Priorat – “Camins del Priorat” 2023 BIO

As the label already announces, Camins del Priorat is made for lovers of beauty and pleasant fragrances, a wine that presents itself as the base wine of the winery, but which shows its own character and defined. From vineyards in several municipalities (Gratallops, Porrera, Torroja, La Vilella Alta and La Vilella Baixa, Bellmunt, El Molar, El Lloar and Poboleda), at different altitudes and orientations, and from strains of different ages (between 10 and 40 years old), Camins del Priorat is mainly made from native grape varieties (50% Grenache and 15% Cariñena plus other additions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot); it offers a complex and balanced whole, a very fruity wine with the minerality specific to the Priorat terroir.

In the glass, its aromas of ripe fruit skin, juicy fruit, watermelon… with floral notes, particularly of roses and carnations, remind us of Petalos del Bierzo or even Franziskaner type beers with this floral character. and by the notes of banana that we can perceive. On the palate, it is accessible, velvety and very fruity – blackberries and blackcurrants -. Balanced, with body, length and plush yet silky tannins. A jovial and friendly wine, modern and very well elaborated… What more could you ask for from a basic in the cellar?
