North of Saint-Estèphe, in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, the Sociando-Mallet vineyard extends over 55 hectares of gravelly hilltops. The grape varieties are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (55%) and Merlot (40%), with occasional Cabernet Franc.
It was Jean Gautreau who brought this fine estate back to life when he arrived in 1969. Patrice Laujac is the technical director. “Neither classified nor bourgeois… Sociando-Mallet tout simplement” is the motto of this estate, which has built its reputation on the bangs of any classification. Known for their powerful character, Sociando-Mallet wines have established themselves as stars in the Haut-Médoc region.
