Located on the Pomerol plateau, on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, Château Clinet is one of the most highly regarded estates in the appellation. It is known for producing dense, deep wines with remarkable aromatic intensity, perfectly reflecting the richness of the Pomerol terroir.
The estate sits on a unique terroir of gravel and clay soils rich in iron (“crasse de fer”), characteristic of the most qualitative areas of the plateau. These soils give the wines a distinctive texture, both velvety and structured.
The 2020 vintage in Bordeaux benefited from particularly favourable weather conditions, allowing optimal grape ripeness and excellent concentration.
The blend is dominated by Merlot, complemented by a small proportion of Cabernet Franc. The nose reveals intense aromas of ripe black fruits, plum, black cherry, and blackberry, along with notes of violet, chocolate, sweet spices, and truffle.
On the palate, Clinet 2020 stands out for its richness, depth, and full, velvety texture. The tannins are silky yet present, supporting a concentrated and elegant structure.
Already appealing in its youth, this great Pomerol wine also has excellent ageing potential and perfectly embodies the generous and refined style of the appellation.
Located at the heart of the Pomerol plateau, on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, Château Clinet is one of the most emblematic estates of the appellation. It is renowned for producing powerful, deep wines with remarkable aromatic intensity, while maintaining a particularly velvety texture.
The estate benefits from an exceptional terroir composed of gravel and clay soils rich in iron (“crasse de fer”), typical of the central Pomerol plateau. These unique soils play a key role in the structure and depth of the wines, bringing both density and elegance.
The history of Clinet is marked by a steady rise in quality over recent decades, establishing it today as one of the benchmark estates of the appellation. The estate has gained precision and international recognition through rigorous work in both vineyard and cellar.
The vineyard is mainly planted with Merlot, the king grape of Pomerol, complemented by a small proportion of Cabernet Franc, adding structure and aromatic complexity.
Viticultural work is precise and demanding, with particular attention paid to soil management and optimal grape ripeness. Winemaking is tailored to each parcel to preserve fruit purity and the expression of terroir.
The wines of Château Clinet stand out for their richness, silky texture, and depth. They combine power and finesse, with excellent ageing potential and a style that is immediately recognisable within the Pomerol landscape.
