Originating from the hills of Tuscany, in the Chianti Classico zone, Tignanello is one of the most iconic wines of the Marchesi Antinori estate, one of Italy’s most historic and influential wine producers. It is considered a pioneering “Super Tuscan”, helping redefine the style of modern Italian fine wines.
The Antinori estate, with a history spanning more than six centuries, is today led by the Antinori family, who have successfully combined tradition and innovation with a strong focus on quality and terroir expression.
The Tignanello vineyard is located on well-exposed slopes with soils mainly composed of marl-limestone and schist, offering ideal conditions for wines that are both structured and elegant.
The 2013 vintage is marked by a relatively cool and long growing season, allowing for slow and steady grape ripening. The result is a wine of great precision, with freshness and a classic structure.
The blend is dominated by Sangiovese, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, adding depth, complexity, and balance.
The nose reveals refined aromas of black cherry, raspberry, and plum, along with floral notes, Mediterranean herbs, sweet spices, tobacco, and cedar.
On the palate, Tignanello 2013 stands out for its balance, tension, and fine but structured tannins. The overall profile is elegant and linear, supported by a fresh backbone and a long, harmonious finish.
A great ageing wine, perfectly expressing the refined and precise style of Antinori’s Super Tuscans.
Marchesi Antinori is one of Italy’s oldest and most influential wine estates, with a family history dating back more than 600 years. Based in Tuscany, the Antinori family has played a major role in the modernization of Italian wine and in the emergence of the famous “Super Tuscans.”
Today led by the Antinori family, the group owns and oversees several estates in Italy and abroad, while maintaining its historic headquarters in Tuscany. Its approach combines tradition, innovation, and a constant pursuit of quality.
In Tuscany, the heart of the estate is centered on vineyards located in Chianti Classico and the surrounding hills. The soils are varied, mainly composed of limestone marl, pebbles, and schist, providing ideal conditions for structured, elegant, and expressive wines.
The main grape variety is Sangiovese, the emblematic grape of the region, often complemented by international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, depending on the cuvée.
The estate’s philosophy is based on precision viticulture, with close attention paid to each individual parcel. Winemaking is modern yet respectful of terroir, aiming to best express the balance between fruit, structure, and finesse.
The wines of Marchesi Antinori are known for their elegance, depth, and ageing potential, and are among the leading references in contemporary Italian wine.
