Solaia 2011 comes from Tenuta Tignanello, the historic estate of the Antinori family, located in the heart of the Chianti Classico hills in Tuscany. This exceptional vineyard parcel, facing southwest and situated at an altitude of 350 to 400 metres, benefits from abundant sunshine and soils particularly well suited to the production of great wines.
The 2011 vintage stands out for its excellent ripeness and richness. After several years of bottle ageing, Solaia now offers a particularly elegant and complex expression.
In the glass, it reveals aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum, complemented by notes of cedar, tobacco, delicate spices and cocoa. The palate is full-bodied and structured, with dense texture, fine tannins and a long, persistent finish.
An iconic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc, Solaia perfectly illustrates Antinori’s philosophy: combining the character of the Tuscan terroir with the nobility of great international grape varieties.
Solaia 2011 is now reaching a beautiful stage of maturity, making it an outstanding choice for lovers of deep, complex and refined Tuscan wines.
Solaia is the flagship wine of Tenuta Tignanello, the historic estate of the Antinori family, located in the heart of the Chianti Classico hills in Tuscany. Today still managed by the Antinori family, the estate benefits from an exceptional terroir, situated at an altitude of 350 to 400 metres, with soils rich in limestone and schist.
Solaia is produced from an exceptional vineyard parcel on the estate, facing southwest. The name Solaia literally means “sunny place”. Its excellent exposure and natural drainage provide ideal conditions for the grapes to ripen slowly and fully.
The Antinori family, whose winemaking history dates back to 1385, has played a major role in the evolution of Italian wine. With Solaia, the family once again demonstrates its ability to combine Tuscan tradition with a modern vision, notably through the blend of Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
The first Solaia was produced in 1978, and the cuvée has since become one of the most sought-after and iconic wines of Tuscany.
Solaia embodies the entire philosophy of the Antinori family: an exceptional terroir, meticulous viticulture and a winemaking heritage passed down through more than six centuries of history.
