Overview
Located on the prestigious clay-sand terroir of Saint-Émilion, the 2019 Château Dassault combines richness and elegance. The blend is composed of approximately 74% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, from vines approximately 26 years old. Aged for 14 to 18 months in barrels, 70% of which are new, this vintage reveals a refined structure and remarkable aromatic complexity. A wine that is both powerful and balanced, perfectly reflecting the expertise of this Grand Cru Classé.
Tasting
The intense ruby-red color reveals purple highlights. The nose unfolds aromas of black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), combined with notes of licorice, cocoa, leather, and sweet spices. On the palate, the body is dense, with firm but well-integrated tannins, supported by a mineral freshness and beautiful fullness. The long and persistent finish illustrates the perfect balance between power and finesse, promising excellent aging potential.
Château Dassault, a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion, is an iconic Bordeaux property, renowned for the elegance and finesse of its wines. Founded in the 19th century under the name Château Couperie, the estate was modernized and expanded by Marcel Dassault in the 1950s. It now covers 40 hectares of vineyards, located on the clay-limestone and clay-sand soils of the northern slopes of Saint-Émilion. The grape varieties are mainly Merlot, supplemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, producing balanced and powerful wines. Vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled concrete vats, with barrel aging to reveal complexity and elegance. Under the direction of Romain Depons, the château combines tradition and innovation in each vintage. Château Dassault wines are distinguished by their precision, aromatic richness, and exceptional aging potential. The property reflects the excellence and family know-how passed down through several generations. Château Dassault is today a symbol of prestige and authenticity in Saint-Émilion. It continues to attract wine lovers and collectors from around the world.
