Second wine of Château la Gaffelière, 1er Grand Cru Classé B of Saint Emilion, in other words the elite of the appellation. An uncompromising approach: the suppleness of Merlot but with structure and hold. Lovely, silky tannins. Good aging potential
Clos La Gaffelière is the second wine of the prestigious Château La Gaffelière, owned by the Malet-Roquefort family since 1705. Located in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation, the estate covers approximately 22 hectares of vines cultivated on clay-limestone and siliceous soils, benefiting from a microclimate favorable to viticulture. The grape varieties are dominated by Merlot (approximately 75%), supplemented by Cabernet Franc (25%).
Clos La Gaffelière is produced from the estate’s young vines, less than 25 years old, and is aged in French oak barrels for approximately 12 months. This wine is distinguished by its freshness, silky tannins, and its aging potential of approximately 10 years, offering a more accessible approach while retaining the elegance and finesse characteristic of the Saint-Émilion terroir.
