Purchased in 1967, this estate is the historic heart of Vignobles Lafon. Château Du Grand Barrail is located on the hillsides of the town of Plassac and overlooks the Gironde. Old vines of 40 years and more, mainly Merlot. Yields controlled at 40 hectoliters hectares. The harvest is done by hand, over-ripening. The maceration is done cold for 4 to 5 days. Thermoregulated fermentations, frequent and long pumping over. Minimum maceration 5 weeks. Malolactic fermentation in barrels. Stirring for about a month. Aging 12 months in new French oak barrels.
