Joseph Drouhin – Chassagne Montrachet 2023

A generous, elegant wine. Light golden color. The intense nose reveals aromas of flowers, brioche and candied lemon, evolving over the years towards hints of roasted hazelnut and spices. On the palate, the wine is straightforward, full of sap and finesse. The long finish leaves floral and gingerbread notes.

Production commune: Chassagne Montrachet.

Location: in the south of Côte de Beaune, a few kilometers from the town. One of the villages that, along with Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, make up the prestigious “Côte des Blancs”.

History & tradition: the name comes from “Cassanos”, a Gallic word describing this place as planted with oak trees. The word “rachet” means poor, dry, where nothing grows. A paradox considering the richness of Chassagne-Montrachet wines.

Soil: complex soils, limestone marl, yellow or red clay, limestone scree and gravel, mostly light, pleasant to cultivate, gently sloping, well exposed.
