One of the best Grenaches in the world!

One of the great vineyards of Alvaro Palacios worked by mule to respect the terroir. It is the most modern version of Alvaro’s great wines with Grenache and Carignan grape varieties. It’s an iron fist in a velvet glove. Rich, mineral, dense and spicy, its balance is perfect, which sometimes makes tasters say that for the price it is often the most interesting wine in the estate’s range.

The Finca Dofi red 2017 comes from 14 hectares of vines planted in three parajes (localities) in Gratallops. This year the blend is made up of 87% Grenache, 12% Carignan and 1% white grapes (Grenache Blanc and Macabeu). It fermented in oak vats with native yeasts and aged in large oak barrels (bocoyes andfoudres) for 14 months. It’s racy, elegant and fresh with very clean aromas and flavors that lack neither concentration nor power. It has to be the thinnest and most elegant Dofi to date.

Description

The Palacios Remondo family, (also known as “Herencia Remondo”), has a winemaking history going back four generations. It was José Palacios Remondo who was most important in the development of the bodega. As a visionary, he sent his sons to study in the best French oenological schools, and transmitted to them a great vocation. During this time, he worked to select the best vines in Rioja, while respecting regional wine-growing traditions. With 100 ha at the foot of the Yerga mountains, the grapes grown come from a rigorous selection. Mechanization is very low, allowing great respect for the bunches during transfers. In 2000, Alvaro Palacios took over the estate, reinforcing the desire to create unique, high quality wines. The estate has been awarded by the best critics (Robert Parker, Wine Spectator) for years, and its wines enjoy worldwide success.
