In 1999, the prestigious Antinori family of winemakers began investing in the vineyards of Fattoria Le Mortelle in Tuscany. The land comprises a mainly flat vineyard of 170 hectares, planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, a little Carménère, Vermentino, Viognier and Ansonica. The estate extends over medium-heavy sandy soils rich in skeleton. Four DOC Maremma Toscana or IGT Toscana wines are produced at the winery, located in the northern Maremma, close to the original forests in the hinterland of the seaside resort of Castiglione della Pescaia.
