Fine and delicate, this Saint Joseph was already being sold in the 16th century. It was appreciated at the tables of the kings of France.
Previously known as “vin de Mauves” (from the name of the eponymous village, itself inspired by the Latin Malva “mauve color”), the Jesuits of Tournon sur Rhône gave it its current name in the 18th century. Between 1956 and 1969, all the vineyards in this part of the Côtes du Rhône were grouped together and awarded the local A.O.C. Saint-Joseph.
At Jaboulet, the entire vineyard is certified organic and cultivated with respect for the soil and living organisms. Viticulture is seen as a long-term process, an ongoing quest to regenerate the environment, giving great terroir wines the means to reveal their full potential.
