A great white wine from Pessac-Léognan signed Château Pape-Clément
The property
Located at the gates of Bordeaux, Château Pape Clément is thus one of the oldest wine properties in the region since the first harvest took place in 1252. Château Pape Clément owes its name to Pope Clément V. Pope Clément V will ensure management of his vineyard with passion before donating it to the Archbishop of Bordeaux. We then spoke of the “Vines of Pope Clement”. In 1983, Bernard Magrez, the tireless builder and composer of rare wines bought the property. Bernard Magrez, who today owns 4 Grands Crus Classés in Bordeaux, will use all his energy and determination to raise Château Pape Clément to the rank of the elite of Bordeaux grands crus. In 2009, Château Pape Clément was notably rewarded by obtaining a score of 100/100 from the American critic Robert Parker. Château Pape Clément thus enjoys a worldwide reputation, both for its red wines and for its white wines.
The vineyard
The vineyard devoted to the white wine of Château Pape Clément represents 18 hectares of the estate. Located in the commune of Pessac, the 22-year-old vines are planted on a layer of clayey gravel.
