The wine’s youthful brilliance is matched by eye-catching, brilliant green reflections. From the very first nose, the Riesling expresses itself in all its frankness, floral, open to notes of lily of the valley, elderflower and, more volatile, citrus zest. With age, it takes on stony notes of flint, gunflint and hydrocarbons. The mouth, perfectly dry, is surprisingly lively, invigorating, with a frank attack that lingers without greenness, making you salivate and inviting you to the table. Lemon, lime and yuzu zest accompany the palate through to the tangy, caressing, addictive finish.
A perfectly dry wine par excellence, it stands out for its finesse and straightforwardness. It will convince you that it is the noblest of white grape varieties. It’s the wine of choice with seafood and fish.

Description

2023 was above all a year marked by drought. While the health and quality of the vintage were exceptional as a result, yields, particularly for Riesling, were severely affected. The longest dry spell was from April 18 to July 23, with almost no rain, following a cold, late start to spring. With no heatwave either, 2023 was a dry and healthy year, but not a hot one in Alsace! Harvesting began on September 18, without a drop of rain. 2023 is an easy vintage, and one of Hugel’s great ones.
