From a vintage of freshness, this Rosé 2013 reveals all the juicy substance of the Pinot Noirs from the precocious, south-facing clay-limestone terroir of Cumières, refined and stretched by the freshness of the north-facing Chardonnays from Chouilly. A real charm!

Over the years, Louis Roederer has developed a method for producing its rosé champagnes that is unique in Champagne. Known in the House as “infusion”, it extracts the juiciness and ripeness of the Pinots Noirs while preserving their great freshness. A few Chardonnay juices are poured into a Pinot Noir maceration, to ferment together and integrate perfectly.

MILLESIME
2013 was characterized by a particularly late cycle! The interminable winter gave way to a very timid spring. We had to wait until the first days of July to see full flowering in the vineyards… It’s been a long time since we’ve seen that in Champagne! Fortunately, the summer was radiant, with record-breaking sunshine and low rainfall, all of which helped the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes to ripen. The October harvest again took place in cool autumn weather, producing elegant, fresh wines… great “classics”.

Description

It’s a Brut Rosé like no other, vintage, which takes on a special pose over time. A snapshot of the year, this Rosé is made from 35 small parcels spread over the warm terroirs of our “La Rivière” vineyard, planted with Pinot Noir, and the cooler limestone soils where Chardonnay grows. We apply a technique quite unique in Champagne, a long, gentle infusion of the Pinot Noir to extract its juicy, ripe side while preserving its immense saline freshness.
