Located in Bordeaux, in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion is one of the emblematic estates of the Left Bank, renowned for its distinctive style and remarkable precision.
The vineyard is rooted in deep gravel soils mixed with clay, with a very close proximity to the city of Bordeaux. This gives the wines a unique identity within the Bordeaux landscape. The 2022 vintage benefited from climatic conditions marked by concentration and optimal grape ripeness, while still preserving a beautiful overall freshness.
The blend is dominated by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot. This unusual proportion for the region results in a wine that is structured, floral, and highly refined in its aromatic expression.
Ageing, carried out partly in large oak foudres and partly in barrels, brings a subtle integration of oak while allowing the fruit and spicy notes to remain at the forefront.
On the nose, aromas of fresh black fruits, violet, ink, and fine spices emerge. On the palate, the attack is precise, with a tight structure, fine tannins, and remarkable energy. The wine is tense, deep, and finishes with a long, persistent aftertaste.
This is a modern and elegant Pessac-Léognan, capable of long ageing while already offering an expressive and enjoyable profile in its youth after decanting.
The Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion is a wine estate located in Bordeaux, in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Its history dates back to the 16th century, when it belonged to the Carmelite religious order, which gave the estate its name.
Today, the estate covers approximately 30 hectares of vineyards, a significant part of which is planted on deep gravel soils mixed with clay-limestone subsoils. This diversity of terroirs contributes to the complexity and precision of the wines produced.
The estate is known for its highly qualitative and contemporary approach to winemaking. Blends are generally dominated by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, resulting in wines that are structured, aromatic, and highly refined.
Winemaking is carried out with particular attention to individual parcels and gentle extraction. Ageing combines large foudres, concrete vats, and barrels, helping preserve fruit expression while adding complexity.
Today, Les Carmes Haut-Brion is considered one of the most remarkable estates in Pessac-Léognan, renowned for its precise, tense, and elegant style, with strong ageing potential.
