Second wine of Château du Glana, Pavillon du Glana 2025 expresses with elegance the classic and harmonious style of the Saint-Julien appellation, in the heart of the Médoc. Sourced from carefully selected parcels, it reflects the estate’s expertise while offering a more accessible and immediate expression of this great Left Bank terroir.
The blend, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and complemented by Merlot, reveals a precise and attractive bouquet. The aromas open with notes of blackcurrant, black cherry, and blackberry, followed by subtle hints of cedar, liquorice, blond tobacco, and gentle spices, typical of the great wines of Saint-Julien.
On the palate, the wine is distinguished by its balance and refined structure. The tannins are fine, well-integrated, and provide an elegant framework without harshness. The freshness of Cabernet Sauvignon brings tension and precision, while Merlot adds roundness and softness.
The oak ageing is carefully managed and discreet, contributing aromatic complexity without masking the purity of the fruit. The finish is long, straight, and elegant, marked by a lingering fruity and lightly oaked character.
Both approachable and refined, Pavillon du Glana 2025 perfectly embodies the Saint-Julien style: balance, finesse, and elegance, with an interesting ageing potential.
Pavillon du Glana is the second wine of Château du Glana, a property located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation on the Left Bank of the Médoc. The estate extends over typical gravel soils of the appellation, offering ideal conditions for the expression of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
The vineyard benefits from close proximity to some of the most prestigious classified growths of Saint-Julien, which contributes to the quality and consistency of the estate’s style. The well-drained gravel soils allow optimal ripening of the grapes and promote the fine tannic structure characteristic of wines from the appellation.
Pavillon du Glana is made from the estate’s younger vines as well as selected parcels intended to produce a more supple and approachable wine than the grand vin. The planting is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, typical of the structure of Saint-Julien wines.
Vinification is carried out with care to preserve the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir. Ageing in French oak barrels is carefully managed, adding complexity and elegance without overpowering the wine’s aromatic profile.
Today, Pavillon du Glana represents a more early-drinking and accessible interpretation of Château du Glana’s style, while retaining the elegance and balance characteristic of great Saint-Julien wines.
