CHÂTEAU PICHON LONGUEVILLE BARON 2025 – Pauillac: 98-100 pts
Château Pichon Longueville Baron ranks among the major references of the Pauillac appellation, on Bordeaux’s Left Bank. Classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in 1855, the estate is renowned for producing powerful, structured wines of great precision, fully reflecting the nobility of its deep gravel terroir.
The 2025 vintage stands out for its remarkable intensity and outstanding aromatic definition. The nose opens with concentrated aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and black cherry, enriched with notes of cedar, graphite, fine spices, and a subtle, perfectly integrated oak influence.
On the palate, the attack is broad and dense. The structure is imposing yet perfectly balanced, supported by powerful but highly refined tannins. The whole reveals superb harmony between concentration, freshness, and elegance, typical of great Pauillac wines.
The finish is long, deep, and persistent, marked by fruity, spicy, and lightly toasted notes, with a beautiful mineral tension.
Pichon Baron 2025 brilliantly embodies the estate’s style: a distinguished, powerful wine built for very long ageing, destined to evolve exceptionally over decades.
The Estate – Château Pichon Longueville Baron
Château Pichon Longueville Baron is one of the iconic estates of the Pauillac appellation and one of the leading names classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in 1855. Located on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, it stands as one of the historic benchmarks of the Médoc, renowned for the power, precision, and longevity of its wines.
The vineyard covers approximately 70 hectares planted on deep gravel ridges typical of Pauillac. This exceptional terroir ensures optimal natural drainage and promotes slow, even ripening of the grapes, which is essential for crafting structured and complex wines.
The vineyard is largely dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Each parcel is vinified separately to preserve the identity of each terroir and achieve great precision in the final blend.
Ageing is carried out in oak barrels with great rigor, contributing structure, finesse, and ageing potential. The estate is today recognized for its powerful yet refined style, combining intensity, balance, and the classic elegance of Pauillac.
Today, Château Pichon Longueville Baron stands as one of the pillars of the Médoc, producing deep, characterful, and long-lived wines among the most sought-after in Bordeaux.
