The complexity and precision of Saint-Émilion
Carillon d’Angélus is the second wine of Château Angélus, recently promoted to the top of its appellation alongside Châteaux Ausone and Cheval Blanc. Born with the 87 vintage, this wine represents around 20% of the estate’s production and is a blend of the two Cabernets, Franc and Sauvignon, with at least half Merlot, the king of Saint-Emilion grapes.
The vines for this cuvée receive the same care as those producing Château Angélus, and the harvest is hand-picked, then sorted with great care, for vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats and ageing for 12 to 14 months in new and one-wine barrels.
The result is a second wine of great class, with elegant oak, a gourmet mouthfeel, silky tannins, length, freshness and all the savoir-faire of one of the most renowned names. Quicker to drink than its predecessor, it will nonetheless last many years in your cellar.
