With this Deuxième Cru Classé, we are in the upper echelons of the Saint-Julien appellation. Anthony Barton, assisted by Jacques and Eric Boissenot, has worked tirelessly to restore the lustre to a name and a wine that had been resting on their laurels. You’ll find 3 grape varieties in this bottle: a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with old vines over 40 years old producing rich, concentrated grapes.
The vinification process is a blend of tradition and modernity, with parcel-by-parcel processing and temperature control in wooden vats. The wine is aged in oak barrels, more than half of which are new.
The result is a Saint-Julien with a host of qualities: balance, a complex bouquet, strength, depth, richness, good ageing potential… It’s a Grand Vin at a more affordable price than you might think.
