This 2nd Cru Classé is a must on the tourist route of the great wines of the Médoc, if only to admire its state-of-the-art cellar and vat room, completely redesigned in 2008 by the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. Cos d’Estournel has belonged to the ambitious Michel Reybier since 2000, with the support of director Charles Thomas. The 91-hectare vineyard (60% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc) is superbly located on a pile of clay-limestone gravel. The vinifications are monitored by the oenologist Eric Boissenot.
The vintage is known to connoisseurs for its rich wines with an impressive tannic structure, powerful and greedy on their intense fruit thanks to the strong share of Merlot, with spicy and toasted notes. They offer a very good conservation potential.
