Pinot Gris is a sumptuous grape variety to re(discover). Pale gold in colour, it develops a complex aromatic palette, orange, apricot, fresh and candied fruit.
In a beautiful conformity, the mouth is balanced by its roundness and its freshness which develops a finish with a most pleasant structure.
Tasting by Serge Dubs, Best Sommelier of the World 1989:
Attractive visual appearance, intense and generous robe, concentrated with a beautiful shine, straw yellow, lemon, light spring green linden leaves, a fairly tight and tender leg.
The intense, expressive bouquet that offers itself spontaneously, a magnificent aromatic bouquet without exuberance, all in balance and harmony, of acacia flower honey, apricot, grapefruit and orange peel, zan, liquorice, fresh almond, Reine Claude, a little smoked and brioche.
Wine on the palate with a tender texture, melted, fleshy, juicy, vinous while remaining dry, fresh and dynamic. Tasty long finish with substance, a nice refreshing finish that leaves a clear, clean and delighted mouth.
Wine that tastes well now and can be kept for 10 years. It is a great Pinot Gris wine to be enjoyed absolutely as soon as you have it in your cellar and which will evolve remarkably over the next 10 years.
To be recommended with gastronomic meals, with sea or river fish in crayfish or lobster or spicy sauces: lamb curry, fillet of red mullet with turmeric, monkfish with saffron. Then with a little aging will be a good companion for poultry, pheasants and white meats. Veal chop with wild mushrooms, game terrines.
