Hugel & Fils wines have a long tradition. In 1639 the first Hugel moved to Riquewihr. Eleven generations later, Jean Philippe, Etienne and Marc Hugel reign over this age-old company. Hugel owns 25 hectares on the best slopes of Riquewihr and is committed to 100 hectares of comparable quality. Hugel strays from the ‘Grand Cru’ qualification, as trade seems to be the starting point, not quality. The dry wines have three levels of quality: the ‘tout court’ variety, the ‘Estate Hugel’ from the best hillsides, and Grossi Laue, from our own vineyards. In sweet two: Vendange Tardive and Sélection de Grains Nobles, sweet wines with great aging potential, with which Hugel rightly enjoys a worldwide reputation.
