Tignanello 2001
Produced from the renowned Tignanello vineyard in the heart of Chianti Classico, Tignanello 2001 is one of Italy’s most iconic wines. This vintage perfectly illustrates the elegance and depth that have established this great Tuscan wine as a benchmark around the world.
Today, the 2001 vintage has reached a magnificent stage of maturity. The bouquet reveals aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, and wild berries, complemented by notes of tobacco, leather, cedar, cocoa, roasted coffee, and sweet spices. Bottle ageing has brought remarkable complexity while preserving the freshness of the fruit.
On the palate, the wine impresses with its balance and silky texture. The perfectly integrated tannins support a full and harmonious body. The natural freshness of Sangiovese provides vibrancy, while the Bordeaux grape varieties add depth and structure. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, with flavours of black fruit, balsamic notes, and liquorice.
A truly great Tuscan wine, now at a superb stage of maturity, while still offering remarkable potential for further evolution.
Marchesi Antinori
Founded in 1385, Marchesi Antinori is one of the oldest family-owned wine companies in the world. For more than 26 generations, the Antinori family has played a leading role in the evolution of Italian viticulture while remaining deeply committed to the great terroirs of Tuscany and Umbria.
The Tignanello estate is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, on hillsides composed of limestone soils and schist known as alberese and galestro. These terroirs provide ideal conditions for Sangiovese, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Introduced in the 1970s, Tignanello is regarded as one of the first Super Tuscans. It revolutionised Italian winemaking by breaking away from the traditional Chianti regulations in favour of quality and the pure expression of terroir.
Today, Tignanello remains a global benchmark, celebrated for the elegance, precision, and extraordinary ageing potential of its wines.
