Saint-Julien – Grand Cru Classé
Located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, Château Branaire-Ducru 2025 brilliantly confirms the elegant and refined style that has built the reputation of this renowned Grand Cru Classé of the Médoc. This vintage captivates with its aromatic precision, remarkable balance, and its ability to express the full nobility of its terroir with finesse and purity.
The blend, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, reveals a complex bouquet of blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry, and violet, complemented by delicate notes of sweet spices, cedar, and graphite. From the very first sip, the wine displays a silky and harmonious texture, supported by fine, perfectly ripe tannins.
On the palate, concentration, freshness, and elegance are combined with remarkable precision. Crunchy black fruit flavours shine through with purity, while a subtle mineral backbone brings depth and tension. The oak ageing is perfectly integrated, enhancing the fruit without ever overpowering it, and contributing to the wine’s complexity and impressive length on the finish.
True to the identity of the great Saint-Julien wines, Château Branaire-Ducru 2025 combines restrained power, refinement, and balance. While approachable after a few years of cellaring, it also possesses all the qualities required to evolve gracefully over several decades, gradually revealing the full richness and complexity of its exceptional terroir.
Located in the heart of the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation, Château Branaire-Ducru is one of the most renowned estates in the Médoc. Its history dates back to the 17th century, but it was in 1680 that Jean-Baptiste Braneyre laid the foundations of the vineyard as it exists today. Classified as a Fourth Growth (Quatrième Grand Cru Classé) in the famous 1855 Classification, the château has established itself over the generations as a benchmark for elegance, balance, and fidelity to the identity of Saint-Julien.
Today, the vineyard covers nearly 60 hectares, mainly planted on magnificent Garonne gravel ridges resting on a clay subsoil. This exceptional terroir provides optimal natural drainage while allowing the vines to draw deeply on the resources necessary for their balance and development. This unique combination promotes the production of wines that combine finesse, freshness, and remarkable aromatic complexity.
The vineyard is planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Each parcel is managed with precision to express the full character of its terroir. The estate places great importance on environmental stewardship and implements sustainable viticultural practices designed to preserve biodiversity and enhance soil quality.
The modern winery, continuously upgraded to meet the highest standards of precision, allows for meticulous parcel-by-parcel vinification. Each lot is vinified separately to preserve the unique expression of every terroir before the final blend is assembled. Ageing in French oak barrels further refines the structure and complexity of the wines while preserving their natural elegance.
Recognised for producing some of the most harmonious and refined wines of Saint-Julien, Château Branaire-Ducru stands out for its balance between power and delicacy. Its wines offer an authentic expression of the Médoc, combining depth, freshness, and outstanding ageing potential.
