Château Lagrange – Saint-Julien
Among the most prestigious estates in the Médoc, Château Lagrange holds a distinguished position within the Saint-Julien appellation. Classified as a Third Growth (Troisième Grand Cru Classé) in the official 1855 Classification, the estate encompasses one of the largest classified vineyards in the Médoc, benefiting from an exceptional terroir of Garonne gravel soils over a clay-limestone subsoil.
The modern history of the château took a decisive turn in 1983 when it was acquired by the Japanese group Suntory Holdings. Significant investments in both the vineyard and winery facilities enabled the estate to regain its place among the leading references of Bordeaux.
The vineyard is predominantly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and Petit Verdot. Each plot is carefully managed to preserve the expression of the terroir and ensure consistent quality. Vineyard practices are based on a sustainable and environmentally responsible approach.
Renowned for their balance, elegance, and ageing potential, the wines of Château Lagrange express the full finesse of Saint-Julien with remarkable precision. They combine controlled power, freshness, aromatic complexity, and outstanding cellaring potential, making the estate an essential benchmark of Bordeaux’s Left Bank.
