Pauillac
Second wine of the prestigious Château Lafite Rothschild, Carruades de Lafite 2025 embodies with finesse the elegance and precision that define the great wines of Pauillac. Sourced from the same exceptional terroirs as the grand vin, it offers a more approachable interpretation in its youth while retaining the noble and refined signature of the estate.
Primarily crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and other Left Bank varieties, the blend reveals a refined and complex bouquet. The aromas open with notes of blackcurrant, black cherry, and blackberry, enriched by delicate hints of cedar, blond tobacco, graphite, and fine spices.
On the palate, the wine impresses with its remarkable balance and silky texture. The tannins are fine, precise, and perfectly integrated, providing an elegant structure without heaviness. The typical freshness of Pauillac brings tension and energy, supporting a pure and harmonious fruit expression.
The barrel ageing, executed with great precision, adds depth and complexity while respecting the expression of fruit and terroir. The finish is long, straight, and persistent, marked by a refined mineral and seamlessly integrated oak character.
Elegant, structured, and refined, Carruades de Lafite 2025 faithfully reflects the spirit of Pauillac and offers an ideal introduction to the world of Château Lafite Rothschild.
Carruades de Lafite is the second wine of Château Lafite Rothschild, one of the most prestigious estates in the Pauillac appellation and the Médoc. It is made from the estate’s younger vines as well as from carefully selected parcels originating from the same exceptional terroirs as the grand vin.
The vineyard of Lafite Rothschild extends over deep gravel soils resting on limestone and sandy subsoils, providing ideal conditions for the expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, the dominant grape variety of the estate. Carruades therefore benefits from the same strict viticultural standards and precise vineyard management as the first wine.
Historically, the name “Carruades” comes from an old plateau of parcels located near the château, which was incorporated into the estate in the 19th century. Today, this wine represents a more approachable and supple interpretation of the Lafite style, while preserving its elegance and distinctive aromatic signature.
Vinification is carried out with the same rigor as for the grand vin, with controlled extractions and ageing in French oak barrels, helping to preserve the finesse of the fruit and the purity of the terroir.
Carruades de Lafite is now recognised as one of Bordeaux’s most emblematic second wines, offering a more accessible expression of the refined and profound style of Château Lafite Rothschild.
